Will free blogs will give u higher PR like myspace.com, typepad.com, xanga.com There main domain must have a higher PR from the start so if you write for them will you then get a higher PR quicker or a jump start?
i will re write this Does the PR system not count the PR ranking of the main domain. Myspace.com for example and Myspace.com/hello Will /hello have a better start then everyone else?
Don't quote me on this but I was under the impression that starting blogs on services like blogger and wordpress.com actually does help your get your blog indexed and ranked in search engines - but it doesn't increase your PR because those root domains don't actually individually link those blogs. That was my understanding.
It may be easier to rank with a newer blogger.com blog than a new yourdomain.com blog simply because of the strength of the main domain...
i agree it wont effect PR but u will def get more traffic.Because services like wordpress.com blogspot.com typepad.com are already well indexed in google
I've always heard the exact opposite, at least for blogger. I started my blog in early October, and google indexed it within a few hours (I only linked to it from 2 directories at the time). I created a personal test blog on Blogger, added it to the same two directories, and 2 weeks later Google still hadn't come by. Not exactly scientific, but it made me feel pretty good about my decision!
I was more implying that if you actually did a link building campaign (building a hell of a lot more than two links) for your blog you'd see better results from a wordpress, blogger etc hosted blog as a result of the trustrank that Google gives sites listed on those domains than if you were to create and host your own wordpress blog. I mean this is all very hypothesized stuff that I haven't personally tested but from the sources and results I have seen on my own network of sites new personal sites do seem to suffer a little more from the "sandbox" effect than a free hosted blog on a trust domain like wordpress. Again please don't take this as gospel - I personally have never tested it but I have read/heard quite a few reports on this being the case and it would be congruent with similar effects that I have seen on my network of sites - even though they aren't blogs. Again I'm not positive, but I'm sure I have read around the place that black hat seo users often use wordpress and blogger for this very reason, that and the service is free. It allows them to exploit the way Google's algorithm currently indexes sites.
