Will Facebook destroy LinkedIn in the future?

According to my research, LinkedIn has 120 million members and Facebook has 750 million in the current scenario. In the starting, LinkedIn was very popular for getting the professional profiles but now a days, #Facebook is also popular for getting the professional profiles. Facebook is designed for just such interactions, as its “Recommended Pages” on a user’s home page shows. Facebook has more people, spending more time on the site, using innovative technology and getting personal referrals. LinkedIn has only its reputation and clean—bordering on empty—interface.

We use social media every day. Whether it is to keep in touch with old friends or far away relatives, stalk our favorite celebrities, or just share our thoughts with them. Will it be better if we maintain personal and professional profile at a same place on Facebook?

    Hi Neeraj,
Both the platforms have very different demographics so I’m quite sure #FACEBOOK will not destroy #LinkedIn.
Secondly my perception is that most of the peoples use to Facebook to interact with people they know possibly or we can say it’s a social networking site while peoples visit to LinkedIn for professional networking and jobs.

Facebook has launched "Facebook at work" and he is spreading its hands in this field to collect the professional profiles. So i am worried about it and LinkedIn replacement. As you know that Facebook has a 4 times more number of users so it can be possible.

Both facebook and LinkedIn meant for different purposes, on facebook you can interact with people in more friendly way whereas on LinkedIn you build professional reputation of yourself, also you can search jobs on LinkedIn, so there is no way that facebook is going to terminate LinkedIn in future.

    Yes it will.
And then Google will destroy Facebook.
And then it will be only one site with search engine, social networks, mail servers, trading platforms, marketing tools etc - google.com
Why not? Globalization is the way to simplify the life for each person.
And then it will be one country with one government, after that it will be no names or surnames anymore - identification numbers only
    and so on

It looks like Facebook is getting more and more professional with every update (at least trying to...) so maybe in the future it could be a real alternative to Linkedin... but not now and not soon.
