Will Editing Blog Post Affect Ranking?

I have a fairly new Wordpress blog (my first). Needless to say, I have LOTS to learn. My home page (static page) is showing up on page two for the keyword I'm trying to rank for. Not great, I know, but I'm guessing it could be worse.

There are some things that I know now I've done incorrectly and I would like to make some small changes. What kind of an effect will small edits to my blog posts have on page rank, if any? While page two is not great, I would hate to do something that would make it disappear.

If the changes stay related to your post, it most likely won't hurt you. In reality it will probably help, as google likes to see your content updated. This tells google that you keep your information relevant and up to date. I often edit, and add to old posts to increase my rankings.

 

If you changed some elements of the post that does not relate to the actual contents of the post, than your ranking will be effected, in my opinion.

 

if you had to do something, do it. do not think about google, always think about visitors.
