No matter what you guys say, DP is getting bigger and stronger every day and believe it or not, those crappy cheap sales threads in BST contribute a lot for this popularity.

As far as it grows and makes thousands of dollars every month, I believe Shawn sees no problems in DP. This is called business!

Adding a minimum wage may put off people working in countries with lower living costs e.g. India.

I say if someone wants to charge $100 for the same work someone charges $500 then let them. If the work is as good, great - if not its the decision of the buyer.

hmm, what i've been trying to say is.. it doesn't have to be strictly applied rules. Maybe a mod writing an educational thread which gets stickied in the B/S/T section. Lets say as a guide, a 1 page webdesign should cost $100, now by giving that information the customer will realize that any offers below that figure won't get them the same level of quality at web design and customer services as $100+

Anyways, I'm happy to announce that this monday I will be starting my full-time Web Designer role at $25 per hour. I still might come to DP to earn some $$$ on the side... but I wish you all the best of luck and fortune whilst you're looking for work on DP...

    Thanks everyone for participating,

kip said maby charge $1 per new thread what about paying $3-5 for a membership to create new topics in there, would work a similar way and stop all of the rubish building up in there.

I really like the charing per thread thing. At least in the templates section. Right now I've probably been working for about $4 an hour. I spend a lot of time on my designs, or maybe I'm just really slow. :(

Good luck Vahsi, I hope your new job works well for you. There's a lot of money in Web Design (I've seen some professional jobs on Craigslist paying upwards of $50 an hour!) but it's just hard to get noticed.

I don't think DP should charge to post. Being free is what sets DP apart from places like sitepoints. Also, if someone is not getting paid enough for what they are doing, charging them to post their product will NOT help. Keep DP free! :)

Expand yourself off dp, or make enough money as there are allot of webmasters all here looking to increase SERPs and gain $$ this is something to think about. I make much more then minimum wage working here at DP of course this isn't my only webmaster source sitepoint dot com is also a great place.

Learn to earn, is my advice.
