I have to reflect what others are saying, I never heard of Cuil until now! most people in general just want to pop onto the net, search for a few things, have a bit of fun and that's it. The majority of people I know don't really care too much about the net, they are too busy with their life's.

Google is too embedded now to ever really be forced out of the top spot, they have google search, google maps, Youtube so on and so on....

Not sure, it's very similar to Cooliris, that's been around a bit and looks better than search me, it hasn't really taken off that much.

Cooliris - Looks amazing but is it really helpful?

if someone makes a search engine with a non-retarded but short catchy name that randomly puts up a picture of a hot naked chick everytime you go to it, it MAY give Google a run for its money.

I read in the newspaper tat google bought the indexing technology from cuil. Now they updated it and the people who run cuil don't want to the sell there new indexing technology which indexes sites faster and doesn't need as much server stuff!!!

    But will it beat Google?
    Does't look like it.

What the hell is Cuil? It's not about how much you index, but it's about how you organize, and provide relevant content.

You can have all the content in the world, but if you can't display it for the right users, wtf is the content for?

Cuil in my opinion is just an overrated piece of crap. It'll never take over Google. Google is quicker, easier to use, and much more appealing to look at. Cuil is too dark IMO.

Cuil Sux, horrible relevance to search terms.

Cuil will be nowhere to be found in 3 years.

Cuil is nowhere now. The search results are worse now than when they first launched. The look of the results is also pretty unreadable. I'm all for giving new things a go but they've gone backwards since launch.

I first learned about Cuil several months ago (there was a story on Slashdot about their launch). In my recent tests, their search results are just as bad as they were at the start. While I like some of their ideas, they've got a long way to go before they've even a threat to MSN. That's saying something.

but I have to agree with your sentiment :). Their results don't even begin to compare to those from established engines, regardless of how many pages they claim to have indexed.

It's too late, google are too far ahead to be threatened by anyone, especially a search engine that most people here haven't even heard about!

Cuil - remember the ppl that started this company. They are originally from Google and know how the big G ticks. Only time will tell. Believe me, I'm rooting for Cuil - but I really don't think they'll pull it off over time.

I don't know very much about "Cuil" but Cuil will not be able to kill Google and i am sure google has gone so far as per its popularity and features that no one can compete with google and it is the king of all.
