Will coop be worth it for my forum?

Ok I have been reading through some of these threads and I havent really grasped the concept or benfit.

I have a forum, located at http://www.conservative-talk.com, that I have been thinking of doing this on.

Does it have to be webmaster related or would this forum work?

Do you guys/gals think it would be worth it? How exactly would I benefit?

    Thanks in advance.

    Eric

To add a few stats, the forum has about 4,300 pages indexed and the homepage is PR five. Site is getting about 5,000 unique per 30 days.

It would be worth it, you'll benefit by trading advertising on 1000s of other sites

It doesn't need to be webmaster related.

If you joined the coop you would give ad space to thousands of websites on your site, and in return you would get to run your ads on thousands of sites within the network.

It can be placed on any site that complies with the TOS, yours probably does.

Yes you would benefit. For the sake of 1-5 outgoing links on every page you can expect thousands of IBLs/ads.

It's a big WIN in return for a small investment.

You can sign up via the FAQ in my sig ;)

So, the ads change constantly? How do the SE's feel about this?

Is the trade off even? Meaning if I have 4,300 pages available would I get the same amount of links back in return?

My site is political but it does not endorse either side of politics. My site is discusted with all sides of politics. Does this mean I cannot join?

I'm not a Coop Mod but chances are it will pass, just submit it and it will be reviewed.

Yes it's like for like, you get back what you give.

Google uses rotating links themselves with AdSense and big sites like Amazon etc. have rotating links everywhere promoting this that and the other too. They're fine with it last time I checked.

I commented on other potential pitfalls in my FAQ.

Ok I signed up. Now I just gotta figure out where to put the code. Im new to the design side of things so this will be a learning experience.

On vB 3.7 where is the best place to put the code? I had a webmaster working on my forums and he bailed out so I have to figure everything out from here on.

Thanks for the help so far everyone, it is much appreciated.

Looks like it may go well in the footer. Now I just need to figure out where in the footer.

    Newb on vB here.

EDIT: Crap, this looks a lot more complex then I thought. Is there a beginners tutorial to setting up the files and such? I have only just gotten to where I can add links to my forum so this is a whole new ballgame for me.

Well, Im a guiness man because of my Irish heritage. My problem is I live in Reno Nevada where you can sit down at a penny slot machine and put a dollar in and play 100 hands of poker and go through 2 or 3 pints with only tipping a dollar once.

When I travel to other cities I find myself spending 20 bucks on 4 bottles and this only gets me into "ok Im thirsty now" mode. I guess I'll just have to look around. :)

Ok now Im off to the blog, lots to read.

    Thanks again.

You get spoiled out there. I was at a Casino around here last week - $5 a beer and it took 1/2 hour to get it. I just started ordering 4 at a time and when they brought those 4 I put in my order for 4 more:)
