I have an innerpage, actually innerpost which has taken about 3 months to get to page 1 on google. Problem is the URL and description display the date. i am afraid when people see the date and its old they will not click, so i want to change the date. Do you think this will kill my rankings if i change it?

This is an example of what the URL looks like:
    http://mywpblog.com/2010/02/09/inner-post/

Example of what description looks like:
Feb 9, 2010 ... Mortgage Mortgage – 7 inside secrets to a successful Mortgage Modification. 7 of the most important topics when trying to get your mortgage ...

If you change the URL it will be lost. Removing/changing the date in the description shouldn't hurt if you leave everything else as is.

Yeah i agree with homecomputergames. It could actually help if you just remove that one part.

Make a 301 redirection so that your visitors from old URL can be brought into your new URL.

You can do a 301 re-direct, telling Google and any other user coming in that the page has not disappeared, only moved.

But yes, changing the link will make it appear lost in the searches, which is why you need to put in a re-direct to still profit from that traffic and all the hard job you've done to get there.

thanks all. 301 redirect or changing description sounds like the way to go.
