Will Computer Hard Disks get cheaper Quickly?

With 5G just launched in few cities of USA and expected in many cities of Europe in 2019 and by the mid of 2020 5G will be coming to India. Do you think that data consumption will increase and go beyond sky?
Will this coming of 5G going to cause Hard Disks getting cheaper within few months as we enter 2020 or we can expect prices of Hard Discs to remain stable for many years?

In general, everything gets cheaper over time until it is impossible to make any money selling it. Then something new comes along at a ridiculous price and the game starts all over again.

It will, but not by much. The price per gigabyte, let's say, ten years ago was ~ $0.15, today it's ~ $0.03. I will not be surprised if by 2020-25 it will be ~ $0.02-$0.01. After that there's not much wiggle room left.

What about a possible trend for moving over to SSDs? The price of them has come down a lot over the last few years.

Depends on what you mean? if you talk about HDD's yes they will because of SSD's and SSD's are currently not to cheap.

Couldn't really call all of them expensive. Just had a quick look on Amazon and there's a 1TB one on there for £112.76 for Prime members

    True, but in comparison.

Also as a sidenote, if you would raid 2-3 1TB SSD drives as raid 5 or simple raid you would have true porn when it comes to transfer speed!

Yes, in time as new and better tech for data storage is released as well, it will go down.

Look at SD cards and USB's etc they have got cheaper and cheaper over the years. As someone said, with SSD's now as well. I think in years to come we'll see a decrease, especially is there is more innovation.

I think in years to come a lot more things will be done in the cloud leaving little need for on board physical storage anyway.

Now you can even use gaming services where you remote access a gaming computer from a crappy computer to play high usage and quality games.

So with more innovation like this and with the rate of speed technology changes, I think eventually it will become very cheap/cost effective.

Depends of many factors, once I can think that 5 g technology will not go ahead and it will not work so fast, and HDDs will most likely cheapen due to the emergence of new technologies, but not from cause 5 g

I think we will not get cheaply in recent time, because of dependency on tech.
