I've always dreamed of coming up the next big thing on the web like Digg and Twitter. I tried to learn coding but I get distracted too easily and takes too much time (What programming language I need to learn to code Twitter?). When an idea do come up, I'm thinking to outsource the coding work and I can do some designing. My questions is, what If the coder steals the idea while on the projects and bolts? Any suggestion? Btw, anyone know of any other sites like Digg and Twitter that's an innovative idea?
Do you have any good ideas? I'm a webapp coder (proper webapps, not just PHP junk), but I never have any ideas, and I can't do design. I'd love to team up if you have any mindblowing ideas! As for insurance against coder-bolting, well, I could pinky swear!
Can the coder who might steal your idea do marketing? Probably not, so if that's the case you are safe You can have the coder sign some legal paperwork preventing the idea from getting stolen, but if he/she lives in another country there is no hope for retribution
That's a good point, AcuMarketing. There's probably a reason that coder is coding your app instead of his own! Most coders can't do marketing/design/etc. I know I can't.
Carolyn what kind of languages do you develop in. Can you develop RIA's? Can you code in flex/actionscript 3.0? Ajax?
I have a big idea in the works and my coder is great (I outsourced also), really just talk to them and get an idea of them, most coders are out there looking to make money with their knowledge (coding), not so much to steal ideas because in the end you know what you want to do better than they do. Even if you explain everything to them they may not see the big picture in the idea like you do. All in all I wouldn't worry about that.
jpippy, no – sorry! I despise RIAs, web pages were never meant to be so complicated! That's not to say I don't use AJAX sparingly when it will improve the user experience, though; see http://howmuchwouldittake.appspot.com.
