it doesn't seem as if they're interested in taking down alexa since google could've killed alexa years ago.
Alexa is already quite dead i guess.. so chrome killing alexa isnt rite.. you could have said chrome killing firefox and ie
First chrome needs to get all of the bugs out of the way before they can even release the browser fully, let alone changing the market share.
It wont kill Alexa because it will be available for Chrome as well, Same toolbar on IE, Firefox, Chrome and probably more in the future.
Alexa rank could be increased while putting the toolbar so that's why people don't believe on their ranking but google analytics is the original tool which helps to find the original stats of your website!
I'm not going to use chrome because of the term & conditions about collecting all the data you type in.
Unless it is a trend adopted and accepted by everybody, Alexa will continue to be remain as measurement for traffic ranking. And i definitely do not think, emergence of Chrome which is just in the infancy will one day change it.
Google powers Alexa practically showing the same SERP's, and it will continue to stand alone as it has, regardless of Chrome. Alexa will contunue to be as useful as any other none Google search engine like MSN and Yahoo.
I don't care much about Alexa rankings, specially because it can be easily spoofed. Regarding Chrome, I've tried it and uninstalled it right away, I have no plans to switch from FF, at most I'll use it as I use IE, for compatibility check-ups.
That's like saying you can get accurate website stats from Mozilla Firefox alone, when it only has >50% browser market share. For accurate stats, you need 100% browser market share, which will never happen, and unless Chrome takes over by 70-80% to get "somewhat" accurate stats, I doubt Alexa is going anywhere. They might not be accurate to webmasters, but normal people really think those are the numbers. I can't see Chrome as being a threat to any major browser, especially IE (built into Windows vs. having newbies download and run it... I think IE is somewhat safe).
