I have been trying to move up for a certain keyword. Every time I checked my position the first time it would be on page 2. Less than two seconds later I would check it again and it would be on page 5. It would eventually move back up in under a day, but when I started checking my keywords though a proxy they didn't move no matter how many times I searched. I know that google knows my IP and which site I own because I have a webmaster tools account. Is it possible that Google temporarily jumbles your search position if you check it too much to keep their search engine from getting somehow reverse engineered, copied, or keeping people from learning exactly why pages rank the way they do. I know that is why they only update toolbar PR every couple of months.
no lol....I think we all thought of this at some point because we are too focused on trying to improve our results we dont want to hurt ourselves...but its quite silly and you will come to realize that on your own...all it means is you are thinking the right way.
I dont think that is the case. I think Google still goes with guideline depending on how many links a website have accumulated and how much traffic are being brought in.
No, it doesn't. But why don't you try to focus on building new links - and checking your rankings once a week or so?
what fun is in that? if you are working on keywords, people will check often, just like people checking how much money they have made today.
I checked a couple of my sites using their best keywords and are always listed on top 1 no matter how many times I do the search. So your theory doesn't work for me.
Just think once that it is true If your keywords are competitive your searches will very low to effect If your keywords are not competitive google won't care. But in reality it has no effect.
