It will affect your SEO ranking for sure. Why don't you just keep the titles as they are right now?

You want your titles to reflect what you are trying to optimize the particular page for. You also of course want your title to effectively explain whats on the page to Google.

    hope that helps,
    Nigel

Changing your wordpress title has nothing to do with your PR, it make affect your SERP, but not the PR, i would just consider doing backlinks building and forum posting, to increase your PR.

I think some people are over exaggerating. Are you changing your Wordpress title and subtitle to something completely unrelated to your website content/keywords? If so, then yes it will negatively affect your rankings.

However, if you made your title and subtitle random, and then you change it so that it relates to your content/keywords, then it will actually IMPROVE your rankings. Example:

    Before:
    Title: Bunnies
    Subtitle: Bunnies are cool
    Content: Dogs, Dog Training.

    After:
    Title:Dogs
    Subtitle: All about Dog Training.
    Content: Dogs, Dog Training.

^^ If that's the change your making, then it will definitely improve your ranking. You are making your title/subtitle MORE relevant to what google thinks your site is about.

    kooner001, antonio5429, LinkBlast,

    thanks! you guys are great!

Actually my blog covers my lifestyle for the past few years. few months back, i move over to WP and started writing topic related to SEO, internet marketing pertaining to the chinese market. i am thinking to change my title and sub-title something relevant to SEO or internet marketing. I am also wondering if changing it will improve my SEO ranking or not? that is why i posted this thread.

should i split the blog into 2, leaving my lifestyle blog as it is and create another SEOed blog for my new topic and interlink? but then, doing so will increase my site maintenance. any 2 cents for me?

I'll be frank, a lifestyle blog probably wont make you much money. If you want to continue doing it then move it to another website.

If you have already started writing SEO related material and you change your WP Title to reflect your blog's change to SEO keywords, then you will rank better for SEO material and worse for your lifestyle material.

    Hope it makes sense!

Titles are one of the important points in seo, but they are not the sole point by which google ranks your website. There are more than 200 factors at play in Google which google calls as 'signals' which decide whehther your page is the right page to return in search results.

Ofcourse it affect your SEO rankings because TITLE is very important factor for search engines. If your rankings go down then it will also affect your traffic so think twice before changing your TITLE.

thank you for pointing out to me. i started out blogging for fun and i do have a handful of followers following my boring life. then somehow last year i started to commercialize my blog and now i lost my interest in blogging bcos i blog in the name of SEO and no longer my passion.

so i have been struggling a while, what should i do, split my blog or do a all-in-one blog? finally i decided to go with all-in-one. between passion and SEO, i choose passion. my site may not be SEO but i m still please with the result. secondly, it is a bilingual site, english and chinese. this is another hurdle i m trying to overcome in the near future with Wordpress3.0 and translation plugin. BTW, my site is hosealim.com

i m still formulating the ideal solution for my all-in-one blog. that why i started this thread to get expert advices from you guys.

    Traffic-Bug, hsvyas, seo555, whitehatexpert,

thanks for voicing out. appreciate your opinions.

interestingly, another thought came into my mind is to write more blogs base on my existing title and sub title keywords? is it a good idea?

Just be sure that the meta tags and title tags should define what the content of your page is all about. It is very important in order to have a good ranking on search result.
