Will changing landingpages url alter history in adwords?

    Hi,

we are planning to put some order in our adwords campaigns and would like to change the urls of the landingpages. Now, these pages will be identical to the ones we used before, but they will be located on another url. Will this affect the history of that particular advert in our adwords account?

    Thanks fr letting me know,

    B

I would just make a new ad. There's no real benefit to editing an ad.

It would hurt your SERPs for a while, as the old pages would still be indexed, unless you do redirects.

If possible, keep the same pages and try to change other things instead.

Yes, The change of landing pages does carries a certain amount of percentage as far as the quality score of the campaign is concerned, but to see it for the longer run, and if you feel the need is there for it to be changed , do that immediately.

Initially you are going to lose a few pennies, but will certainly help you in longer run.

Also, do try to change the layout/design or content of the page a little. Delete all the external links(besides the one that are utmost necessary to be carried on), and remove all the banners(if any) from the landing page.

Should provide you with a better conersion right away, with a much better CTC.

    Thanks

I guess Sideline is not talking that he is going to remove the existing pages. That is pretty obvious thing not to do. Unless your site is extremely new or have supplementary results or the SEO is not done properly for your site. If thats the case, you can afford to do so, but if not, never remove the existing pages from your site.

    Thanks

Yes, but if the content is the same for both pages, then he risks a duplicate content penalty. Maybe it's not a big deal to him in this situation.

Yeah of course, i have also talked about the supplemental results here as well.....and i am not talking about having the same content, if you read my first part of my post. Also, if there are chances that the pages may go into supplemental results, it is of course mandatory for him to change the content. I hope he knows this.:)
