Personally i think not, why? Well looking at my case i have a good old 32 inch sony crt on my living room (which has kick-ass 5.1 built-in sound btw, better than any lcd sound i've seen so far..) with a nice dvd recorder. Why would i change my whole equipment just to see the same image just with more pixels, i dont think my eyes would notice the difference.. I believe Blue-Ray will be an intermediary for the real revolution that will come next...
I will take more time to reach in the market ... But defenitely it will be a revolution , Blue ray is compatible like a hard disc.
It won't be an essential like DVD but I think will run along-side DVD as the hi-def disc-based system. Both will continue to run alongside download-based media distribution.
I saw Blue Ray for the first time when I was Christmas shopping. It stopped me in my tracks. I watched it for 15 minutes before I moved on. I plan to wait for the inevitable drop in price. I may buy AFTER NEXT Christmas.
I bought Blu Ray a couple of months ago and have enthusiastically invested $400 in movies in the past 60 days. It's that good.
Its already a revolution. May be they will enhance it further but the technology will persist for atleast 5 years
Quoted for truth. I got a 32 inch TV in my room and watch Blu Rays all the times on my PS3. Heroes Season 2 on Bluray was amazing
What i really want is tri-dimensional movies (holographic) that would sure be a revolution for cinema
Blu-ray already is a revolution. Best picture and sound available. Watch The Hulk on Blu-ray - It's truly INCREDIBLE.
Blu-ray is the next big thing after DVD.. and infact it has already started taking over the DVD market. I have experienced The Dark Knight on Blu-ray and it was awesome
I believe like, drmike, that in the future you'll be able to just download the movies you would like to see, straight from the net.
I have watched Blue-ray movie, and i must say that the picture quality is really impressive and sound effects too are sharp and clear.......sense makes if prices drop drastically and that too depends on demand.........economic recession will make things difficult for blue-ray this year
For that reason blu-ray wont be popular and for that reason I dont buy a blu-ray player, although I have a nice new 32" HD TV. What am I waiting for? Im waiting for a player that will play a high-def video files(.avi, .wmv will do), that will be the major competitor of blu-ray and will gain popularity I think. Think of mp3 vs CD. As for now, I bought a 3m HDMI cable, and planning to plug it into TV from my PC. And boom, youve got a high-def picture Althought, this cable is somewhat expensive, I got it for around $100
