I'm amazed that they still exist, but it seems that every customer computer I ever lay my hands on has AOL. Even in a high % of businesses I work for.

Will AOL make it another 5 years without a drastic change in service & price?

    Thoughts?

Hope they stay around. From a UK perspective I do use them and recommend.

Yes ist's propriatry, not the cheapest and may miss the latest bells and whistles BUT
Easy to install works first time, e-mail wherever you are easy to roam yes it may cost a bit extra but I get my mail wherever I am (and my addressbook).
Technical issues resolution fast on-line or phone and free (others here charge up to

 I wish I could get rid of my adwords/adsense aol login. There is no way to change it. It looks like I am stuck with AOL permanently.

There has to be a way of changing it. People change their email addresses all the time.

Send them a friendly e-mail and explain why.

It's best to sign up with an e-mail from one of the domains you gonna keep and redirect to whatever you fancy.
It's a serious program not for playing around.

PS I'm afraid serious advertisers don't expect their content partners to switch e-mail on a daily basis.

AOL will survive, just look at how many people use the instant messaging service. As long as the ads continue to display on AIM, they will have a sort of a backup.

I'm rather fond of AOL... anyone that knows me.. knows I use it for just about everything email/news/weather. I'm a creature of habit I have been using them for years and I see no reason to switch.

I got a gmail account, and they let me change from my old email to my new gmail account. I don't remember how I did it, but I know it's changed. If you need an invite, PM me...

They are great at marketing, not their service. Their marketing strategy is one of the best I've seen. Coming to think of it, aren't they now being sued over it as well?

Hold on: answer me next December .... it can wait

AOL servers are full of viruses that constantly infect peoples computers.
I know this because i work on PC's everyday as im a Computer Scientist, and everytime I work on a PC with AOL software installed, theres tons of viruses(mostly infecting files related to browsers). Why do people insist on paying for services that are free anywhere else? I dont get it! retarded! You people are paying AOL for spam!!! Thats all their service is. A bunch of ads popping up all over the screen, with a million search boxes when all you need is one. Who the hell wants ads popping up everywhere while theyre trying to search the internet. besides that....theres free email services that are 100 times better such as Gmail. Only a complete fool would use AOL at all. Enjoy your free of charge viruses, complimentary of AOL. In the last 3 years I havent seen one computer that had AOL installed that was not infected with atleast a few viruses. I fix their PC, tell em to get rid of AOL, they dont, then theres viruses all over their PC's again. Some people never learn!
