will alternate subdomain trip SE duplicate content filter?

I will invite users to view a new version of my site under the test.<mysite>.com domain, linked from the main www.<mysite>.com site. The pages on the test subdomain will be different in formatting, but the URL's and text content will be nearly identical to that on the main site. Since it will be linked from www, the content will also be visible to SE robots (and for technical reasons I can't really use robots.txt to prevent that). Do you think I'm at risk of tripping any SE duplicate content filters? Even though the subdomain is different?

    thanks

I would recommend finding some way to disallow indexing of these pages. Otherwise you have to 301 redirect them once the test is finished and worry about dup content.

if you cant use robots.txt, use meta tags to stop google from spidering your test site
