Yes they will. If not, try running in compatibility mode.

But most certainly they will.. except it they use very specific drivers or dlls that have been discontinued or dramatically changed with Vista.

examples: DirectX access.. or C++ Apps,. using direct windows APIs

    thx

For maximun compatibility make sure to save the document in Office 97 - 2003 format (e.g. .doc instead of .docx)

No they don't. Despite you can right click on a file to choose XP compatibility this does not necessary work.

I had a problem running a simple new XP program fro 3G connectivity... solution?

After an experience of 6 months with Vista I downgraded to XP

In this time I tried different "hacks" to make VISTA compatible with my software and hardware but finally I renounced.

And I have a good computer and not cheap (2000 euros - 6 months old) and even components that are rated compatible with Vista are not working well(in general drivers problems on hardware, and stop functioning correctly on software).

Plus some old software(2-3 years old) especial games and KAV 6 antivirus,Nero are not working in Vista. Personally I hate the implementation of the DRM , I do not understand how will help me. The superfetch is really very worse implemented for my mode of working, because I am using many software, not the same 2-3 all the time.

Also have some annoying visual effects in some software like Maya or Flash (on enter in a movie clip) and even with a rating of 7.5 the speed of the OS is not what I expecting.

Now in XP all my software and hardware are working and the sistem is 2 to 3 times faster depending of the application.

Probably next I will switch to MAC, Linux is good but for the moment is not a option for me because Wine can't emulate Adobe Products in a stable mode.
