I like your adsense placement. You should get lots of clicks from those skyscrapers. Maybe consider blending the ad background with your page background. The color you want is #DDDDDD. Will Adsense improve your website? It might improve your bank account, but I've never thought that Adsense improves a site. Any type of advertising is usually intrusive to the overall user experience, but advertising it just a part of our world.
Nice site. But you should have some categories. Also, instead of making the design fluid, I would suggest making it a fixed width. Make every thing white background.
To get more clicks i would also add another banner to the top of the articles maybe remove the banner from the footer. You wont get many click down the bottom of the page like that. Too many ads also deters visitors and you may get a higher bounce rate keep an eye on it.

Pretty stand out color for the ads. I think if people can't find what they looking for at your site, they will click on ads for other solutions.
