Will a Sub-Domain add link popularity to the main site?

I run a blog about hypnosis, and I record and make available free hypnosis downloads for a variety of issues. These free downloads are an excellent traffic generator for my blog.

Unfortunately, a blog isn't the best way to present these downloads and get lots of links. So, I'd like to make a page that is not run on the blog software where the various downloads are presented in a very attractive manner, easy to find the ones users want, et cetera. My idea is to use this as a link bait.

It may seem like a really dumb question, but how should I do this in order to get the links to this page to count for my whole site?

Should I do something like hypnosisdownloads.mysite.com or should I do mysite.com/hypnosisdownloads? I think I can get a lot of links to this page, and possibly get it to rank well for some competative keywords. I can also use it in a stumble upon campaign. I'd just like to get the most bang for this, and that means increasing my blog's link popularity. Will either of my options allow my links to increase the link popularity of the whole blog?
