Basically having a website built for me, loads of content etc. I now need to know whether I should..

Register a new domain name and promote from stratch

    Buy an established domain name

or use a domain name I have already (pr0) and is roughly 2 years old.

What options do I have as I think this content will rank very well.

    Let me know your thoughts,

I normally don't expect any results for 6-9 months if you do it from scratch, unless you have loads of traffic to re-direct or a unique offering that can get some viral marketing going.

Buying a domain helps with links and traffic etc. though it's often thought your PR etc. will be wiped when Google spots the WHOIS change.

Using your own existing domain is probably best IMO.

I agree...I would use the existing domain unless it has keywords that aren't relevant.

using your old domain may help if its already in Google's index else it is like starting from scratch and your website might go into sandbox.

Buying an established domain will definitely help..just be careful if the domain is not penalized in any way.

I would suggest you to use your old domain...as tops30 pointed... unless your keywords are totally different... as by that way you would escape from the sandbox... but still i feel that in the early stage of your building it use a less competetive keywords... and exchange links with only quality sites...

Starting from scratch is also no problem when you know how to beat the sandbox phenomenon...

you can get loads of traffic for a new site if you dont worry about google and target msn, msn can bring the needed traffic for a new domain to get it going.
