If someday they accept it: your gonna have a gem in your hands! ;)

I was wondering if is it good idea to register 3d+ famous forums/websites names. expl: 3ddigitalpoint.com -- this is just an example and im not planning on registering it or maybe its already taken. I found some great forums that could be in 3d.

Thats just registering in bad faith, and there is a chance the names are trademarked, so it could land you in some legal trouble

    I would stay away personally

Something I touched on earlier was about 3D standards or lack of. It seems to me that the rush to get 3D TVs out the door by the manufactures is likely to create compatible 3DTV technology issues. Not just with TVs but also the compatible content, delivery of content and glasses (active Vs Passive etc).

I wonder if there will be a massive branding campaign to relabel 3D to whatever standard wins the race, EG: 3-ray, Full-3D. 3D-Definition, S-3D, AS-3D etc etc.

That's a normal period of standard anarchy. Time will get them to standardize they're products & everyone will be happy...lol
It's a dumb way of thinking, but they wait till a standard will be massively used before investing in it: because they all think they have the best one... Yeah righ!
I.e: the battle of HD DVD(Toshiba) vs. Blu-ray(Sony).

Anyway, with all the pressure the movie & gaming industry will put on them to NOT screw up: they will probably conform to it in the middle of next year (my opinion only!). If not, they will miss this giant opportunity...

Ian - you're the best .. i have a few that i am ready to add now.. thanks :)
.. i also re-thought our conversation about 3dXML ...- you won - i'm a convert - i like it alot .. i wanted to scoop up the .info version, but instead i was lucky enough to grab 3dXML.org, which is a very nice and fitting extension for this name .. so thanks on that as well... you ROCK!! haha

and now i need some advise from youall because i have stumbled upon something today that was available that would seem to be trademarked, but when searching i got found no TESS records at all.. so, naturally, i had to buy it.... i have five days to bring it back, so if anyone can find a registered TM on this name, please let me knw .. don't need the headache
.. although, this is going to be a KILLER name for me if it's not... must read link to see why
    .. here goes:

    • 3dTvPlay.com

    http://www.engadget.com/2010/03/15/nvidias-3dtv-play-finally-solves-the-hdmi-1-4-gap-for-3d-vision/

It's a NEW - FIRST OF ITS KIND - "3d Standard" - Panasonic is simply NOT PLAYING AROUND - Looking to be KING of 3d

i also searched "Nvidia 3d Tv Play", "3DTV Play", "TV PLAY", "Panasonic TV PLAY" and "PANASONIC 3D TV PLAY" and found nothing (trademarks, that is)
    ... score??

Please chime in on this giles as you always have some great unput.
    Thanks all.

I don't think anyone can register a trademark for "TV play" (it doesn't make any sense to have a trademark for this phrase). Go ahead with this name.

    thanks RD
... but it really seems like it should be TM'ed, no?
... how can it NOT be?

    nice find!!!

ok .. this is from Nvidia's official site:

unless i am reading this wrong, it is my understanding that the ® (Trademark) ENDS after Nvidia
    ... making 3dTV PLAY fair game ??
.. to further back that theory, "GeForce" DOES have the TM after

i searched TM records again, just to double check against typos or something, still found nothing
.. this could have been a great day :)

Yeah, it does end after Nvidia. From a quick glance at those stories, it looked to me like 3DTV play software is some sort of patch/firmware to update the HDMI on older cards from 1.3 to 1.4 (for $40). A clever way for them to make there older cards compatible as well as make a bit of cash. I imagine all new cards being manufactured now will be getting 1.4 and not need the update. I think by the time people are ready to start plugging their 3D PCs into big screen 3D TVs, their cards will be starting to age... and instead of paying to upgrade software, they will just update the hardware.

However, the fact is that they have software that turns HDMI 1.3 into HDMI 1.4.
There are a lot of 3D capable big screen TVs out there that can't be used for 3D because of HDMI 1.3
If this software could be ported and flashed to these TVs ROMs and enable HDMI 1.4 (Hence 3D) then it could be massive.

The domain is nice either way.

...so I've scoured the web for anything I could find in regards to a tm on 3DTV PLAY
    ... still haven't found anything

But let me ask you all in case of one situation that could be very plausible...
... what happens in regards to a domain name that is registered during a PENDING trademark?

I have to imagine that that's the territory I am in at the moment.

    Thnx

Is there any way to find out the trademarked names? I mean is there any database of all such trademarked phrases?

    I just bought this name

    Touch3D.com

I think the name could be good with all the 3d touch screens that are coming out

I guess there will be other touch gadgets as well in the near future

I love the whole touch computing as well... nice grab there Giles....
... I backed away on some of those because of ATM originally (TouchHD is tm'ed), so i just avoided it and went the other way.... I got 3dTouch.co.uk

and for the dot coms, I had also grabbed
    3dTouchGames.com
    3dTouchPanel.com

I still like them though... the 'panel' may be a hard sell - but not the other two

    Nice Job Giles
