This thread is dangerous!!! Must try to stay away.... temptation to spend money too big..... tempted to reg 5 more 3d domains that have about 800 searches (exact) each per month already....

So what's all the hype with 3D? Just curious as I've not heard much about it but it does sound like an interesting niche.

Look at what the 3D buzz is doing to the movie industry: http://www.lowellsun.com/business/ci_14452630?source=rss

3D is so in demand that there's not enough theater room's to project 3D films!!! :D

Here's a couple of 3D movies coming out this year:

Clash of the Titans : http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0800320/
    http://clash-of-the-titans.warnerbros.com/

How to Train your Dragon : http://www.howtotrainyourdragon.com/

    Alice in Wonderland : http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1014759/

    ToyStory 3 : http://disney.go.com/toystory/

I also think the new harry potter in the fall will be 3d as well. I was reading an article that said that the conversion costs have gone down to about $5million to shoot a film in 3d and another roughly $5million to furnish the glasses to the cinemas. Thats a fairly low additional cost to make a movie 3d.

Couldn't agree more with the "if you build it, they will come". This has been true of all technological innovations and advancements, since time immemorial.

    Nice site, PJAM!

We are talking about domain NAMES, aren't we? Because I still don't see how the "3D" TVs, movies, monitors, in fact the 3D revolution, relates to 99% of the 3D names that are currently regged.

    Look Domainica
    ... i'm sorry man (woman?)
... being subjective is a two way street... I'm all for opinions and debating and all that fun stuff, but u have yet to establish some form of credibility... u have never answered a single question of mine - or others - and all u wanna do is pour cold water on everybody... an there's no way I believe you are doing it for OUR betterment as u have suggested.

I'm a little confused as to WHY you keep peeping your head in here with nothing but negative things to say... if u can't see how commerce and domains are tied together, than I don't know what to tell u

...maybe u think it's funny - and to some degree, I guess it is... and I'm nit asking you praise every name that is passed through this thread, but c'mon already... who the he** needs to hear your "opinion" when you've already established yourself as a negative force

... fine... we're all idiots and stupid for buying these names... I hope your wrong but only time will tell... so please, at least if you INSIST on sticking around, offer up some subjectivity... offer up some answers... there have been some great posts in here that say what r u are TRYING to say, but in such better light... u just seem to want to instigate.

Right now, your words ring hollow without any credibility.... you epitomize "Consider the Source" right now... so c'mon... offer something up that's not just pure dirt on everybody.... I think a lot of people in here have done some legitimate research - not EVERYBODY on this thread is going to be wrong.

I've answered every single question. I've given you 3D names I've regged (just go back into this thread and you'll see). But when I ask you to give me some sales, oh well, I guess THEN it's convenient for you to clam up.

You must be the best domainer in the world because NONE of the big domainers (those who make a very good living at buying/selling names) are buying your, or anyone else's, 3D names. So that must mean you know more than they do. Because as we both know, the majority of the domain name business is SPECULATION. That means you get in on the rumor and sell on fact.

But these big-time domainers aren't doing that, are they? Or maybe they've already come to you and purchased some of your 3D names?

So here's my question to you, AGAIN:
    What names have you sold?

I don't care if you sold them at a low price. Just list your Top 10 verifiable sales of your 3D names, with prices. That's it.

And if anyone else wants to list their Top 10 sales, that's fine by me. Because this thread is loaded with people patting each other on the back over the names they've regged, and yet when these same people who've been congratulated on their regs actually try to SELL their new-found fortune, NO ONE's buying.

So where are the sales? That's all I'm asking. Because without SALES, every word you hype about 3D names is meaningless.

The 3D market will expand to some avenues that maybe the "big domainers" you speak of would rather not tie up money in other places. Many of the names are chances and conceptual. Sure, I know I cant post any sales but I do feel I will have some. We will just have to wait and see.
But hey, thanks for your opinions because I learned a lot from your post . Your view really stimulated the discussion. Great Job!

Below are 3D domain name sales. Nice returns for everyone who sold: from 3800% to 180,000% return on investment. As time goes by, for those of us holding on to our domains for the longer term, ROIs will be even higher.

I agree with the others though; you aren't bringing value to the forum. Not because you don't agree with the strategy of buying 3D domain names but because the questions you ask have already been answered. A review of my posts will show you plenty of applications for 3D domain names.

They haven't been answered. Not at all. They've been glossed over with hype like "if you build it they will come", but no, they haven't been specifically answered.

But congrats on this. These are the first 3D names with prices I've seen.

Are they yours? If not, why don't you post your sales?

Where did you get the list, by the way?

So that's 50+ names so far. Okay, out of the thousands, maybe tens of thousands regged so far, I guess that's a start.

Quick question though. Who's buying them?

Are they end-users or are they people who read this thread?

Also, I don't care if you don't feel I bring value to this thread. That's how people react when they feel threatened. Differing viewpoints do that to you, huh?

Thanks. I appreciate it. I may be wrong but I try to give solid reasons as to why I believe I'm right.

My belief is the same now as when I first posted here:
    1. The best 3D names are long gone.
    2. Once 3D technology goes mainstream, 99% of 3D names will become obsolete. Why visit "3DIllinois.com" when "Illinois.com" will be functioning in 3D?
    3. It's not bad to speculate. I myself have two 3D names and several "S3D" names. But I made sure they at least had some semblance of searches in Google.
    4. Most people in this thread want this to be more of a club than a discussion. And heaven help those that disagree with the club.

    Real quick...
    answer this - nothing more...

.. What is YOUR idea of a successful domain purchase and sell? .... how much profit do YOU require in order to call it a successful venture?.... when u buy a domain name, how much would YOU like to make in order for it to be 'considered successful'.... if you bought something at a garage sale for $10.. hey, even better, &20... And you brought it home and someone offered you $100 for it, would YOU be thrilled?... would u be happy at $50?....or $25,000?.... You said u bought several s3d names... how much money is going to be acceptable to you when/if the time comes to sell?...WHAT IS YOUR definition of a successful domain... a "truly good name", as u call it....let's just start there, because I think this is where the root of this debate lies.
... and please, no runaround, ok Yoda... just answer the question in black and white

Maybe you just THINK some of us are being unrealistic, when in in fact, we're the ones being much more realistic ..

    Nice Job On This!!!

I'm imagining this is 'all-time', no?
.. cause some of those prices seem pretty cheap at this point (like 3d movie)

Looking forward to adding my name to that list

There are at least 7 questions there, not 1. So it can't be "real quick" as you say.

And my definition of "successful" is my definition. It's subjective. I'm sure it doesn't match yours so I don't know what your point is.

Oh wait. I do know what your point is.

You see, you started this thread by touting "3D" names as "reviving the Domain industry". So to you, 3D names were the next big thing.

And other people were actually talking of "retiring" by buying and re-selling domain names. And you did help to fan the flames.

But now you've greatly watered down your spiel. Now you're satisfied with making a quick few bucks. Reg it for $7, sell it for $20, you've made a profit of almost 200%.

$20 sales. $50 sales. $300 sales. And that's gonna revive the domain industry?

    That's gonna let domainers retire?

    Lordy, lordy, lordy.

So for you, and for all the others that are reading this thread, just spend a few minutes making out two simple columns.

In the first, put down how much you've spent so far on 3D names.

In the second, how much have you made so far selling those 3D names.

And, by the way, in the first column, don't forget to include the time you spent on researching your names, regging them and then trying to sell them.

You are including time as an expense, aren't you? Time is money, right?

Finally, you STILL haven't answered my question or responded to my request:

    What names have you sold?

I don't care if you sold them at a low price. Just list your Top 10 verifiable sales of your 3D names, with prices. That's it.

    Can you do that?
