Speculation is the name of the game. But as the saying goes, don't count your chickens before they hatch.

A health concern that's raising momentum.

Keep doing that and you'll go blind

Is 3-D television the future of entertainment? A very different perspective.

3D TVs need safety testing, says CHOICE

3D Technology Has Yet To Work Out All The Kinks

Gizmodo: “For All Of You Who Are Planning To Buy A 3DTV: For God’s Sake Don’t…”

"This doesn't matter too much if you're going to see a movie in the theatre — though it could lead to a few prangs in the parking lot afterward — but it does matter hugely if it's something you'll be exposed to for hours a day, every day, via your television set. Your brain is likely to become so confused about depth cues that you'll be suffering from a persistent form of binocular dysphoria. That's what the testers told Sega, and that's why the Sega VR system — which had been announced with great fanfare — never made it to market. "

"None of the television manufacturers appear to have done any health and safety testing around this. That's a pretty serious statement to make and a notion that is likely to gain traction as the 3-D tech gets rolled out. The idea of legions of class-action lawsuits from a generation of TV and video game addicts should be enough to give the major electronics giants pause ... or, at the very least, a very major headache."

So, maybe 3d lawsuit related domains wasn't such a bad idea after all.

good links and good new stories

... but there's always going to be critics....and many of us won't give two craps about that news.. i mean, how many people still buy cellphones after all the news about cancer related horror stories... hw many people still smoke knowing the consequences .. if it's good - no one's gonna care... we're really, when you break it down, a very simple kind.
    :)

That don't mean i disregard this news by any stretch and that don't mean that some of iit can't be true, or ven partly true... but what's good about news like this and many others just like it, is that it let's us know what needs to be addressed... but once these issues are addressed, maybe a year, 2 years (tops), what a product they will have... and us in return.

.. it took the iphone a few go rounds before it REALLY burst through and took over the mobile world... and if you remember, they said at the time, that they were 5 years ahead of everybody else, and once they debuted it and it began getting cracked and deciphered, everyone caught up to them - in a hurry - even coming close to challenging them in some instances... but it was a process, and it was refined until it became what it is today

3d might not be for everybody .. and even if you put that number as low as 30% of the global population... man .. that's still a LOT of people who are just gonna love this stuff!!!

    * * New 3d names coming tomorrow.. finders keepers, ya know... need to sift through a little more before i unleash you hounds on the rest

.. i think these have instantly become my top names

    Njoy all

    BTW

    Hey tattoo...
... i notice you have a nice assortment of sigs .. (did you do those tattoo's? .. nice work!)
.. did that come with longevity (? # of Posts) or has DP allowed more sigs again (i haven't checked)..
... i remember we used to be allowed three and then they made it two...
... unless i'm out of the loop on this part...
... i just know that don't need another infraction and members of this board seem to be dropping like flies

Yes, I do agree with what you say, I also think that in some cases "any" news, good or bad can help with the promotion/awareness of a product. But not always.
There can be times when too much negativity (especially before launch) can cause re-positioning, de-positioning and in extreme cases, re-branding.

AFAIK, there is not even a broadcast 3D spec yet. we still haven't had the VHS Vs Beta - HDDVD Vs Blu-Ray - Active vs Passive type fights yet.
Even if 3D is the end result, the flavor is still unknown.

In your smoking example, Philip Morris re-branded to Altria because of its negative image

An extreme/unlikely case I know, but if test results were compelling enough for the FCC or someone similar to force 3D spec changes because of "health issues", that would severely impact the 3d brand.

That's when it would be possible for competing 3d technologies (that don't have those "health issues") to jump on the "this type of 3D is bad for your health" band wagon and de-position/distance themselves from 3D, and re-brand their own 3D technology as a new "safe" xyz technology that serves the same purpose.

Again, that would be an extreme/unlikely case. But possible.
There best bet is to get the testing done and a spec sorted out before mass branding starts. IMHO

No, the tattoos are done by a friend of mine (Brent McCown) who has just moved over to Austria.

Yeah, I think its 2 sig links normally, but you can have 4 if you become a premium member.

    Cheers
    James

Already started saving in case of worst case scenario
... Chalk it up as the cost of business and i should be fine

    ... $30 a week is my overhead
... started putting money away already for next year

... while this year might be nice, i think it's NEXT year that serves as the 3d domain breakout

It's good to know that 3D will fu** your brain & eyes, but if they get 3D without glass: it should be just like a normal projection... And if it does: I don't think your 3D mobile touchscreen will give you permanent motion sickness! Anyhow, we just need to be at the entrance of the new market and let our domains go. Did anyone of us has the intention to keep our 3D domain names all for ourself? Or, are we trying to sell them for a high price? :D

3D will live on till the next best thing = need to be better then 3D (so, it's gonna take time...and they need our $$$ now!). And when we say 3D, it can be a 3 dimension application on a mobile phone/computer, a 3D web browser, cartoon animation or else: it doesn't need to be a 3D vision tv. That's the true beauty of this keyword! Even if a 3D movie or a 3D browser isn't really related: they all have the same basic keyword - 3D.

So, if the 3D vision screw up: the 3D world will bloom with the 3D Hype. Why? Because everyone want's to be part of this 3D opportunity in this time of economic instability... (ie: they don't want you to hold your money in your piggy bank...lol) The Tech world now it: if they can't deliver us the next best thing = they are screwed...

Then, let us just thanx the Tech world for all the publicity and credibility they are giving to the 3D keyword to our advantage! :)

    Good Luck everyone!

ps: I really wanted my SEGA VR system... :( lol

I think I scored big time with 3DBLUETOOTH.COM. Just read a news release that blueray 3d glasses are releasing this year from a company named XpanD. According to the article, XpanD's bluetooth 3d glasses will be required to view all the new Vizio 3D tvs coming out this year (august). The glasses will be sold seperately, anywhere from $50 to $100 a pop.

3D sounds great, but I am pretty sure I have already seen 4D. (If anyone knows, its basically a 3D ride/film, but your chairs move / you feel what is happening) Its only time before more and more pop up. Within 10 years, a lot of theme parks will open up 4D rides, its only time before someone will try to move this into your living room.
Going back on point, 3D isn't going to be "revived" because its not dead, it has a pulse, its heart has been beating but very slowly. I had a couple sites within the 3D niche, I still get great traffic. Overall, I guess your doing someone a favor, because of this thread, about 100+ new 3D related websites will be opening up. Which brings to me my next point, I think the 3D boat set sail a long time ago.

    that's a pretty cool idea... 3d Settings ... i like it a lot... and it's FUN :)

    ok .. i here's what i got
.. probably nothing new to anybody, but i still think VERY overlooked throughout it all, for whatever reason.
SO MANY more great names after these... these, i felt were the tops i was going to be able to pull out - true CAT HEAD keywords... would love to have bought more, but there is a reality to how much more we can and can't get.

...anyway... VERY POPULAR strings... and all of them so completely ignored
... even after 600 posts... none of us thought to grab these...
... were we looking in the wrong direction?...
.. or AM I THE ONE WHO'S CRAZY?

    I REALLY Need To Know
    ...

... HOW i was able to buy these names

did i screw up .. or seriously SCORE?!!
    ... so confused.

Anyway .. here's my new names...
