Hi Hotelsex, nice to see you sharing your views on what gambles may be worth it : ) At the end of the day, that's what makes this fun for me. It is really nice to see your thought / creativity behind the gamble as well.
I too have made a gamble recently, and wonder if you (all) would consider it well or ill conceived. My thought was this: most 3d cameras (be it webcam, photo camera, camcorder) have two lenses - they are stereoscopic. I don't think, when "3d" becomes boring to repeat over and over, people will switch to "stereoscopic". But I do think, at the height of 3d hype, many more people will know the meaning of that word than before.
Anyway, my idea was that plain old "stereo" may surface to describe the 3d hardware that has two lenses.
"stereocamera" is an old concept and has a wikipedia page for example. However this phrase has mainly been used by hobbyists (people building their own 3d cameras, etc). To me the gamble makes sense because it is a relatively easy way to accurately describe a camera with 2 vs 1 lens.
Here are my gambles:

stereocamera.net
stereocameras.net
stereocams.com
stereowebcams.com
stereoscopicwebcam.com
stereoscopicwebcams.com
stereoscopiccam.com
stereoscopiccams.com

Regards, Daniel

hi daniel
stereoscopic has its place but for marketing to the general public 3d will only be used, stereoscopic as you said seems to be more used within the the actual companies and people making the tech
i own
3dstereoscopic.info
only name i have like this without just plain 3d
virtual3d.info
3dvirtual.info

Yeah there were so many 3D domains registered this time last year and the drops will be high, as people drop the weaker 3D domains.

Good luck on the domains you kept :)

Thanks Dude!

Yup, when I purchased the domain. I thought it's the ideal site for everything 3D! ie 3D movies, 3D electronics and all the latest news regarding 3D...
and maybe a fan forum for people that love 3D :) has so much potential.

Suxs I have to sell..need the car back up and running!

If interested drop me a PM :)

... this partners very nicely now with iHoloTV.com
* Thanks to SOC.tv - over at The Domains blog for the suggestion... very happy to have this.

i've been starting to add some years to some of my holo names, most notably:
... iHoloTV.com for three more years - this is MINE til 2015 at the earliest

..chance are i'll still put two more years on it in the next month or so.

Thanks to you, Hotelsex, I registered what I believe could be a winner : ) Interactive3dTV.com. I guess it got dropped a couple weeks ago, after having been registered in 2008. For the life of me I don't get how someone had the prescience to register it 3 years ago, only to let it drop on the eve of 3d's entry to the mainstream. I also don't get how you explicitly told us to look up interactive 3d tv, while that exact domain was available - why didn't anyone else take it??
this one may seem a little more risky on the surface, and it is, but if you have the right alerts telling you what's coming - then it makes perfect sense:

• IA 3D TV.com (Interactive 3d TV) <--- Look up Interactive 3d TV
Something I sort of doubt (sorry(!) ) is that 5 digit .coms will all be taken soon. There are many 4 digit ones available yet, once you start mixing in numbers. I can tell you about 5 or so LL3d and 3dLL .coms I found easily, but haven't reserved as I wouldn't know what to do with them. a 5th digit adds 1000s of available variations each of these... That said, a 5 digit domain with "SEX" in it, + D3, I really like, and I certainly think 5 digit domains with sex in the name will run out, and when that happens "d 3" will be a combo.
Please let me know if you want to do anything together with me with interactive3dTV, together we have somewhat of a lock on that baby : ).
Anyway, thanks for the tip, I am excited to see what developments in interactive 3d tv will occur.

@Holographics
i'm glad i can help push the revolution even further!!
haha

nice find - i'm not sure if i checked for it or not - i probably did (?).. but either way - happy to see your happy

... as for all five character domains
... i certainly don't mean that they are 'on the verge' of extinction, but "eventually", they will become much more valuable and hard to get... once that happens, these will all be gobbled up... not too long ago, you couldn't register an LLLL without waiting on a drop or buying on the secondary market... i don't know for sure if this is STILL the case, but i know that this was true at one point.

.. just like i think (and i'm pretty sure) all NNNNN (five character numbers) are not able to be hand regged anymore because they are all gone (this may have climbed all the way up to six character numbered domains since then)... this is mostly due to the very high demand in the asian market and there are not as many possibilities and combinations, obviously as letters... but the point is still the same... eventually - whether five or ten years form now - all LLLLL will no longer be available for hand reg.

i still think my D3Sex will have its day

**if anyone can verify or correct me on the above, please feel free to do so - i have no facts at my disposal at the moment**

... and i'm really hoping to make something out of "IA" names... i find it very hard to believe this will not become adopted in the next few years with everything becoming interactive and a major selling feature... see:

IA Porn.com
IA Holo.com
IA 3D TV.com
IA Display(s).com

...among others :)

- - - - - - - - - - - - - - -

SOLD

(haha)

• 3dReadingGlasses.com

this was only a $60 sale - not bragging by any stretch

... but (1) - this was on the 'Dropping Block'
... and (2) - just showing the activity... that even longer, more obscure - 'Reg Fee' comments from a year ago are still selling for profit

who knew?

:)
