    High-energy scanner enables large-scale 3D imaging
A new high-energy, high-resolution CT scanner at the University of Southampton in UK is helping to reveal the secrets of a prehistoric sea creature.

Engineering scientists at the University have been working with palaeontologists from Dorset County Council to x-ray a 2.4m-long fossil skull, which was unearthed on the Jurassic Coast.

They are using the state-of-the-art scanner to create 3D images of the fossil, thought to be one of the biggest pliosaurs ever found.

The pliosaur skull is one of the first items to be scanned in the University's new £2.2million multi-disciplinary 'µ-VIS' Centre for Computed Tomography. Funded by the Engineering and Physical Sciences Research Council (EPSRC), the centre will enable scientists to reconstruct, or literally see inside, a tremendous range of objects.

A new automated system to monitor potentially dangerous vehicles whilst in motion
A European research project has tested the use of 3D cameras alongside the highways and sensors embedded in the roadside to detect dangerous, overloaded trucks as they move. The system enables a reduction in accidents, protects the road infrastructure and reduces fuel consumption and pollution by ensuring conformity to weight controls.

I think $300 is not bad if you don't want to play the wait game. either way it's too late, move on - there's plenty of fish in the water.

    Good luck

    Wow.... 25,500 euros for 3Dprinting.com
That is a pretty nice sale. When was that sale made?

I would settle for less then half that for one of my 3D domains....LOL
I only have 2 but still....
I am having some great success with my database site. Only had it up as an actual site for a little over 3 months now and I average about 3,000 unique hits a month. Google analytics has my hits down as 80% organic and 15% referral. So the site is doing well.
I have also be using Alexa as a kind of guide line, and my ranking is consistently going up. I have broke into the top 670,000 sites (according to the Alexa rankings). For only 3 months... I dont think that is too shabby.

    Cheers and all the best.

Nice! that's a good news for the 3D names. At least we are hearing about some good sales instead of the .99 cents deals lol

    Just regged new3d.co.uk

Not that popular of a domain I guess (many cctlds still free), but then again there isn't enough old 3d stuff out there for it to make sense to be looking for new stuff yet. The .de was taken already, and as "new" is an English word, I figured .uk would be better than .de.

Also would love to hear if you like or dislike free3d.nl?
I was surprised to find it available - many country codes are taken. 1.5m monthly global searches and 20k local in Holland. And again, there really isn't much free 3d stuff out there yet (wall papers / templates / downloads). So people are already looking for "free 3d" in considerable numbers, even although "free 3d" products are not yet really available. I paid to keep this domain for 5 years, and am wondering if anyone agrees that in the next 5 years it could become valuable?

Finally, regged a few long shots ; )

in3d.be ("in" 3d is also correct Dutch) pc3d.eu (I know, .eu and .be suck) But whatever, I'm all about gambling!
    Regards, Daniel

Just sold another domain!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Who would think that with all the research we all keep doing on high-tech names, it would be about food. I will
post the name once the money is in my account. I really needed this sale to renew my domain names. I think I am only going to renew Geo Names and tech names as I believe those will bring a nice profit, even though this was a FOOD. I sold it for $500.00. It sold on Sedo as a parked name.

Is it worth jumping in on these 3d names at this point? It seems like all the good ones are gone.

All the good names have gone, your best bet is looking on the aftermarket, but a lot of people have realized the value and are asking high prices now

You can neve tell if bids are real. Sometimes people make fake accounts to add bids.

Yeah, no this is a big market. A friend of mine is buying 3D domains likes crazy. However, he plans to hold onto them for quite awhile though, he's thinking nothing less then 4 figures ROI
