Will '3D' Revive The Domain Industry - 3D Domain Names (?)

Discussion in 'Domain Names' started by Hotelsex, Jan 17, 2010.

I know this topic will be more speculative than statistical (to a degree), but...
I have recently BINGED and purchased a ton of 3D domain's that i think are about to be HUGE - combined with their parallel search terms, i think i have some very strong domains here.

    • (eg1... 'Camera Accessories' - Searched 368,000 a month on Google - I bought '3D Camera Accessories .com)

    • (eg2... 'Fighting Games' - Searched 201,000 a month on Google - I bought '3D Fighting Games .com)

You obviously can't do this with everything, but some terms and industries are all geared towards it.
I have about 100 more like this... VERY STRONG keystrings

I guess i'm curious to know if anybody else thinks that this whole 3D phenomenon that's about to BLITZ consumers will have a direct impact on the domain market... because i believe it will have a HUGE impact... New Products + New Industries = New Keywords

I look forward to hearing your comments.

    Thank You

***PS... i just checked 'Valuate .com" for an idea on 'Camera Accessories.com'
... they estimate that domain name to be $159,000
... granted, BIG market, years of seasoning, promotion and research .. but still
... '3d Camera Accessories' are ALREADY being sold - bought - searched and marketed.... could the 3d version bring in 5 figures one day?

I paid $10 for 3dBakery.com and sold it for $1000. Someone now is offering me $250.00 for 3Dmobilephones.com. While not getting the big bucks, I think we have something here.

You're going to always find domain names geared towards the latest trend profitable. 3d is definitely the next trend, and I'm sure we'll see maybe one or two contenders for 'top sites' using the term 3d, but overall, I don't think it's going to be a long-term domain name trend. Those who buy and sell in domain names are going to be able to make quick profits, but ultimately, I don't think that for anything other then that quick buck you'll see profits.

lt;dr Good for quick domain sales, but ultimately, I don't see content sites actually making a large amount of money off the whole '3d' concept in their domain names.

geek3d: which site did you sell that domain name? And grats on the turn around!

It was either Sedo or on my own concerning 3dBakery.com that was sold for $1000 and I paid $10.00 (they simply have it parked the last I visited so I guess they feel it could go up in value. As for 3DMobilePhones.com I am in negotiations... I was asking $400 and they offered $250.00. The name was not even for sale... they went to whois and found me. www.Web3d or
www.3ddweb.com sold for $17,000 or so. I missed the bandwagon the first time, I do not want to miss it the second time (make a mistake twice, shame on me ... so the saying goes).

I bought 3Dtesseracts.com and 3Dgeometricplane.com and sold them each for $∞,000. I think this is totally reviving the domain industry.

Just sold 3dmobilephones.com for $300.00 on Sedo. Paying $10 for the name... wow, try to get that return on stock or real estate... DID I SELL THIS TOO CHEAP????

I have been buying domain names for awhile.. and I probably did sell it too cheap. The problem is there is not a market yet established for 3D domain names yet... but it is looking good. Please do not mortgage your home or the like as this is VERY speculative. I have invested a lot in .mobi and .tel and it could take years to see a return, and those renewal rates really add up... and remember No Namebrand Domains to play it safe. Good luck, and keep us all posted if you sell any and make a profit.

Definitely on to something here. Hmm, you've sparked a few ideas on domain development here. A domain can fetch such a nice price, just think what a sweet design and just a tad of content can do for your pockets!

There is a 3D Revolution Going on. There are 3D Movies, 3D Cellphones, 3D Televisions, and 3D Websites.. which leads to 3D Domains.
