Hi guys, how worthful is wikipedia links? i've created few articles in wikipedia i included my site's link.. within few months these articles got 5 + prs..it should increase my site's pr too.. but i don't see any changes in my site's PR.. so i am bit confused.
Wikipedia links have nofollow which means search engines do not give any weight to the link. It's like it does not exist. However it is still effective as people can click on your link.
YES wikipedia is NOFOLLOW links for Google so no meaning for Page Rank (atleast) but visitors will click on that if you will keep your links in "Related link" sectione.
what the hell.. i didn't know that.. nofollow attribute about wiki links.. all my hard work was just a waste of time? thanks for letting me know that..
Wikipedia is pretty strict about spamming, so be careful. They do use nofollow, but if you have links on popular topics you will get some traffic directly from those links.
lol. some stupid wikipedia user keep removing my links even tho' they are much better than those listed on the site.
I did used to have a messageboard in Wikipedia. I personally thoguht it had a genuine reason to be included and regardless of whether it counted a sa link (nofollow?) it did help a couple of people find us. In fact I helped reunite some old friends. Alas I think its now been taken off.
Another thing about wikipedia is, that a lot of sites reuse the content and then your links might actually considered for pagerank. It is difficult to place good links though.
wikipedia pages turns up for any damn search on search engines like google ... which in itself is a much major bonus . just be happy that your link is still there ...and if u managed to write an article worth sharing , be happy about it ... ur time was well spent
what the heck.. i have profile in wikipedia.. guess profile has nothing to do with wikipedia articles right? hell! it also has nofollow attribute... really it sucks, 70% of wiki members create articles on wikipedia.. some of them don't know what's "nofollow attribute".. spend days and night to complete their articles, just to get some credit.. atleast a PR.. it's unfair!
Hello, Yes, Wikipedia has nofollow tag, but Wikipedi will give you traffic That is important Best Jakomo
I never knew about the nofollow, thanks for pointing that out. And yeah, you can get a lot of visitors from Wikipedia links. I had a link on a very low traffic page (Savants, in case you're wondering), and I got hundreds of uniques from it per month. It was a bit of a bummer when they took it down. Here's my biggest tip: Never link directly to your site, link to a related article or something.
They started the nofollow only a few months back, and before that WIKIPEDIA was the best source for link juice.... I had some many article, well researched written in many weekends.. All wasted
ha.. that's what im talking about! all wasted, if you are trying to create new articles related to ur site,,on the wikipedia, don't do it.. it will rank higher than your site in few days.. so it's worthless..visitors from your article.. it's only 1%.. and if you are trying to include your link on other's articles, they will probably remove it when they'll know about it. so both ways.. time is wasted! but i like wikipedia, lot's of information... u don't have to go anywhere else..!
Having trouble getting to the top with a certain keyword? Wiki already there? Look no further, your answer stands in front of you! Imagine getting a free ad on the number one SERP for your secondary and tertiary keywords. A site that generally has many readers that want all that WIKI has to offer and more. Now imagine your link there! ____________ Of course it's gone nofollow, too many half-assed webmasters have abused the system enough that they needed to do SOMETHING to stop all the crappy links pointing to crappy sites for nothing other then to sponge up a little bit of link juice. As for having your link there being a complete waste of space and time, then get your head of the the rear-end of Google and look at the big picture...TRAFFIC. The world does not revolve around google, and the internet does not revolve around Page Rank. FAR too many webmasters to day see nothing but the Big G when what they should be looking at is the end user. The people that are actually the reason for the internet in the first place. _____________ I've used WIKI are a source for random things, but before I do, I'll generally check it's sources. And if it has no sources, I'll click the 2nd or 3rd SERP listing so that I can verify that what WIKI says is true. If you don't want my traffic when I visit WIKI or you think it's a waste of time to be sited as a source, then by all means, let me know, and I'll be sure to not to link to your sites either...
