I have a couple SEO related questions: 1) It looks like under the Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike 3.0 Unported License I am allowed to use text from wikipedia on my website - as long as I attribute it properly. My question is, when you paste text from wikipedia, sometimes links are added pointing to other wikipedia topics. If I leave the links there, will it help my SEO at all? I was always under the impression that some outgoing links are good for SEO. 2) When I create a post in Wordpress - do the tags affect SEO at all? Or are they only for categorizing posts in the site itself? Thanks for your help!
1) I don't think the outbound links help you. 2) Yes, you should be tagging for SEO. The tag pages (listing all the articles tagged) makes a great page for gaining organic search engine traffic.
1. Yes, it may help but it is not necessary you should always link to Wikipedia, you can also link other sites which also shares informational content. 2. Yes, its good to have tags as search engine index them.
Wikipedia will benefited and I would recommend to create your own unique information that is interesting rather than using wikipedia.
I suggest you to wikipedia page as backlinks & traffic for long time rather page WordPress, because they remove free blogs when you use it for link-building purpose.
I would like to say that it's important to link to QUALITY websites (like Wikipedia, CNN, etc. -> Sites with High Authority!). So they will HELP him!
outgoing links are good for Seo, anyway don't forget to add "rel=nofollow", so you don't make any wrong steps when adding links.
