I just wish to clarify on this rating. I checked on digpagerank.com and type wikipedia.org to verify its page rank. Guess what? Digpagerank gave Wikipedia a red PR 8, which is interpreted as fake PR. Why does it happen?
Do you think wikipedia or yahoo care about their PR? i'll give you the answer: They don't! now... why do you care?
Yeap, it is our publishers like us who depends on Google for a livelihood that needs to care about Page Rank, Wikipedia and Yahoo as well as MSN won't even bother because it is a Google thingy, they won't even bother if Google give them a PR of 0. Not only them those huge publishers like CNN also do not have to depend on it. They can negotiate separate agreements on advertising with Google anything far beyond Adsense.
Wikipedia ranks high for everything. Its linked to by millions of sites. I think they're PR is legit. But like everyone else says, I doubt they care.
Seeing as you know how to connect to the internet...What kind of question is that? I mean...how can you not know Wikipedia?
It's true. I suspect if any one would go to Wikipedia and search for something. They usually rank high for most terms that are commonly searched and that gets them huge amount of traffic. So, they are in a way dependent on Google for their traffic.
Oh yes, well said. Anyways, PR only matters to people like you who get all hyped up about it. If I ever get a PR on my blog you know what I will do? Nothing. I won't even advertise it.
I would rather have traffic from related sites where I know people are looking for my content, not just browsing google. Google is a good source dont get me wrong, but I have found when marketing there are easier and alot cheaper methods which do bring in results.
