    Today search for any term in Google, you will find Wikipedia results in it (mostly).

    What I am thinking is, Is Wikipedia belongs to Google, and to promote it Google is showing results against most of the terms?

    http://www.google.com/ig?hl=en is what I am talking about.
    You can see wikipedia in it.

    Or are we going to see one more search engine called wikipedia.google.com?

    May be I am the one who is late in the party.

    Your thoughts.................

    Wikipedia is a site of the kind that Google likes.

    * relevant content
    * original content
    * plenty of backlinks from different websites
    * excellent internal linking
    * often updated content
    * proper use of paragraph tags
    * clean html code

    Wikipedia does show up in Google as It is an authority website. Take a look at some pages that rank, many have only a few links.

    The fact that Wikipedia shows up almost al the time as the top entry in Google searches is in my opinion a worrying trend. Very few people are aware of the anarchic model inherent to user generated content.

    For example my girlfriend had an assignment to write an article for the Romanian version of Wikipedia about a Nobel prize winner (college assignment). Two weeks later, her rushed and not so very well written article was on the first page of Google.com, well ahead of the official biography on the Nobel site. There is too much potential for abuse.

    Regards, George

    They're a trusted entity because they deserve to be trusted.
