I added one of my external links to Wikipedia yesterday and it has been taken off the page I put it on. I went back to add it again, and when I looked in the editing window, it is still there. It just isn't displayed on the actual site. WTF?
Maybe you didn't press save? Otherwise, perhaps that entry is moderated, as I know they will restrict modifications on pages for a while that have been suffering from abuse.
Was it relevant? There are many Wikipedia editors who scrutinize each update, and some of them are especially tough on external links. If your site does not enhance the wiki there is a good chance it will be erased.
I would assume it got removed from moderation, they're pretty quick to do this because it's highly moderated.
All but 1 of my wikipedia links were removed at once, and that's after being there for 6 months. They were all information pages that some moderator decided were suddenly not of relevance....
It was relevent. The page was on Desmond Clark, so I linked to an interview with him. The thing is, if it was moderated, wouldn't it disappear from the post completely? The text I typed is still in the edit page space.
Maybe there's a delay for that page and the moderator needs to approve. I would imagine it would keep the current edits visible, but not displaying live, and the moderator could approve. I'm thinking the editor went nuts, seeing all those "bad links", changed the settings to a higher level of moderation, and now you have to get it approved every time. That's my guess.
