Wikipedia doesn't count for backlinks?

If your site is mentioned in the "external links" section of several pages from Wikipedia, why isn't that listed or considered as a valid backlink in Google Webmaster?

I'm not sure if Google takes nofollow into account... Maybe it doesn't care about it, or just counts the link a bit less... Anyone has any test about it???

unfortunately the links aren't worth a damn - awful PR and I have (1) external link according to Google Webmaster, and it's from my own site....

Even if sites like IMDB and Wikipedia use 'nofollow' they still generate a lot of traffic, plus a lot of search engines ignore nofollow anyway.
