Hi friends, I am looking for a wiki with the following features: 1. No database (like Mysql). Flat files will be great. 2. Uses HTML template. I have a HTML template, and I want the wiki to run on a similar template. 3. Users can comment, and the comments appear on the same page. 4. WYSIWYG(what you see is what you get) editor. 5. Math equation writer.( good if it has, but will do even without it) There is a hell lot of wikis available. I am not sure where to begin with. Could you please suggest me some wikis that has the above features? I know all these features may not be available in a single wiki, so I have arranged my requirements in the order of necessity. I am willing to compromise the later features for the former ones. Help me please.. Thanks
I've used PmWiki for a flat-files solution before, it worked well. http://www.pmichaud.com/wiki/PmWiki/PmWiki It has add-ons (called cookbooks) that can probably accomplish most of what you are asking for. Check it out, might fit your requirements.
hi Kudy I too tried Pmwiki. The features are great there. However, since I am just learning, I have hosted my website on a free host 110mb.com. The server is not allowing me to upload some of the files formats of Pmwiki. Lately I am experimenting with Giki. It seems to match many of my requirements. But Giki is a one man show. Not many users to discuss with. Is there any other option?
Sorry, PmWiki was the only one I know of that sounds like it will best fit your situation - but of course I don't know everything there is to know about wiki software. My best suggestion would be to get a very cheap hosting account instead of the free one - not sure if you could afford it, but a lot of places offer pretty good rates like $5 a month. I've used asmallorange.com and webhost4life.com with success in the past.
Yeah.. I understand, there's no free lunch. I will switchover to some good pay host once I get a bit more experienced.
