Do the user pages on Wikipedia work as well for gaining reputation with Google as they would from within a Wiki article? I setup my user page with a link to my blog to see how it would show up in results. Thought?
Try other wiki sites, write article with LESS external links to avoid being dispproved or flagged as spam.
link from wikipedia will not give you any benefit with google as they are nofollow but it will give you traffic depending on where your link is placed
Wiki is an amazing source of traffic, please dont forget that. Some of my sites that rank on top of G for not so competitive keywords get almost equal traffic from wiki.
And there is still the sneaking suspicion that even though WikiPedia is nofollow, Google is still impressed by WikiPedia backlinks! Pretty much unprovable of course, but it might be worth it.
