Wiki on one of your sites?

I'm looking at using a wiki script on one of my sites to act as a good resource for visitors.

Have any of you used or are using a wiki script for any of your sites?

Was it helpful to your visitors?

Was it tough to set up and maintain?

Did it help you much as far as SERPs go?

Do you have any suggestions for a wiki script?

I prefer www.PMwiki.com and use it as a single author CMS - not as a 'wiki'. PMwiki is easy to install, great for SEO (custom titles, meta data, rss, page/text formatting...) and gives more freedom than a standard rigid blog CMS. As a 'wiki', it has the same problems as all wikis - it attracts too much spam and too little visitor content. Don't expect visitors to create content for you. There is a huge graveyard of failed wikis out there that expected visitors to create content and/or closed due to high volume of spam. I closed postings to the public and required a manual email signup/verification - but still most of the signups were from spammers. You can get ideas and see a list of pmwiki sites at: http://pmwiki.com/wiki/PmWiki/PmWikiUsers

    Thank you for your advice.

I think I'd want to build it on my own or recruit people to submit entries. The main reason for me wanting to have it would be as a resource to visitors. The last thing I'd want is to contribute to the wiki graveyard.
