you mean in the WinXp WZC(wireless zero config) windows instead of showing a network name it shows Unnamed network??

    dunno

it could be a honeypot ;-)...i mean sort of like trapdoor...its a fake ap..either a pc running hostAP..or FakeAP..there are ways through which you can..using a laptop and a PCMCIA card..create a fake AP..so that others can associate to you...no advantage though..except if they have WPA or WPA2..they could enter their pre shared key...

i am also on wireless too...wifi is cool as long as you know how to configure it...so convenient without the wires...

I seriously doubt it's a honeypot. I live in a rural community and no one around me would know how to do this...at all :)

It is secured, though. I can't connect to it.

It is. I have no reason to try and crack it either.

I wonder just how well those cracks work that are shown on youtube? I would like to see them just for the knowledge. Wouldn't use it unless I had to secure my own network :)

the most difficult to crack is WPA..

WEP cracking is easy..all you need is a compatible wifi card..and there are programs like aircrack..airjack..

i do cracking..not for hijacking others networks..but rather as a security estimate..by breaking my own...WEP is very easy..WPA can take days or months..

and if you keep changin the WPA pre shared key..it would be practically unbreakable..

pretty much...most of the wifi cracking etc etc..can be done very easily on Linux.

the reason is simple...there are lot of stuffs linux supports..from injection to just passive sniffing..

though windows does have tools too for cracking security networks..
