We had a use, "joeuser". The account, at some point, failed to pay, went past due, then canceled after the appropriate time frame had passed. When the account canceled, the e-mail accounts were removed from the account, and the username released back to availability for new users..So far so good...

Now, we have a new user, that happened to request the same username, although now we append our domain in the "Login" field, so it is "joeuser@domain.com". The new user is getting past/account to be canceled letters meant for the old account. We have send invoices/letters to canceled accounts set to "yes", because a lot of our account use override emails, and we still want our money...

In this case, there is no override e-mail, no e-mails on the canceled account, it is a different account class (Therefor a different domain)...Any idea why?

I could just delete the open invoices, and write them off, but it seems as though this might be a flaw in how Optigold e-mails past due invoices/letters.

    Thanks!

Do you have an override email specific to billing? (Set on the Billing Address screen)

No...There is no override e-mail in the billing info/billing address area.

A little more info that might help...

The account class that the past due account has is "domain1", which used to be our main account class. The current account has "domain2" as the account class, which is now the main/default account class. (IE not one of our VISP's.) "domain1" doesn't exist anymore in the "Companies" area, although several accounts still have that account class...But, there are no e-mail addresses anywhere on the past due account...

It is as if it is defaulting to using the "Login" and appending the primary companies domain to that login, and e-mailing there...(Which would be the current account's e-mail address.)

I looked through the logic, and if there is no override email addresses set, and you are having it fall back to the login (instead of an email on their service screen), and that Login has no domain, it append the domain of the company they are assigned to (via the account class). If there is no account class (or one that does not match to an existing company in a VISP setup), it will default to the domain of the primary (first) company.

So...I'm assuming that if I change the fall back to login, it will stop doing this...Where would I find that?

I don't really see a reason for it to fall back to the login with an appended domain, since any e-mails that would have had that domain/login combination would no longer be accessible...Only if override e-mails were present would the invoice/letter have a change of being received...So, I think it would be safe to turn that off...

Can you think of any reason not to have the turned off?

You can turn off the ability to fall back to the login under Maintenance & Preferences -> General Preferences -> Accounts

If you don't want it to fall back to the customer's login (for any customer, active or canceled), you would want to turn it off.
