I recently brought a small website off a friend, i had my adsense code on his website before i brought it, and it was showing around 2000+ impressions a day, now since ive brought it, its only showing 400+. I have changed the template of the website, and moved it to my server.. in awstats the daily pages still show around 2000 but still low in adsense.

    Any ideas?

not every impression that show adsense ads. some time not show, some time PSA's ads.

Awstats count every singles request. even request for only an image.

Look at organic referer. Any drop from search engine sources?

Bots don't load javascript, so no adsense there. Only human traffic will count. But it was the adsense stats that showed 2000? Sure this guy was a friend?

Maybe there are strong weekly fluctuations? I do have a page that has thousands of visitors on weeksends, but is rather medicore on weekdays...

check traffic sources first because traffic can drop when move to new server.

I never seen the impressions on awstats and impressions on adsense ads are close in any day. In awstats always about 3 times or more.

Yeah, well i presumed the same, but he only owns a few websites but i asked him, and he said no. So im taking his word. The website is an arcade website, it is still pretty much getting the same amount of game plays that it used to when he had it, but the impressions arent coming up the same :\

My server stats show a little over 100,000 page requests a day on my sites but Google Adsense shows only half that. I think that's the norm.

Mine show up at about 50-60% as well. The remaining traffic that is reported is all search engine and bot traffic. If you use Google Analytics or anything that uses a JavaScript tracking method like Urchin UTM, your number will be much closer.

I installed Google Analytics on a few of my sites and really like it, especially because it is free.
