there was a domain i know... i searched and it was regged..later when i checked it was automatically available!! i was confused...

i was going to register it..but i just was lazy..next day it was bought..

how can this be possible? it cannot be unregged before it expires right??Even if we lock the domain?

Is it possible to steal a domain without your permission? i mean i just wanted to know...

If it had only been registered a few days, it might have been someone tasting the domain.

GoDaddy is strongly against domain tasting, but other places do have public-facing tasting offerings (such as Pool.com where they call it Catch and Release).

It is up to the registrar to decide whether they will cancel and refund you or not, and if they suspect you did it for tasting purposes they probably won't. I'm a UK domain registrar myself and we do have the option to cancel a domain for a few days after registration, but only on the condition it was registered by accident rather than to see how much traffic it is getting. For gTLDs like .COM, there is no good faith requirement, which is why some places get away with registering thousands of domains for a few days and dropping them if they're not profitable.
