    Guys,
I am using wordpress for one of my site on php5 and mysql5.
everything works normal, and suddenly i get error "error establishing a database connection".. I know this error comes when it is not able to make connection. If i try to make connection manually ex: mysql -uroot -p, and select database, it let me connect and select Database.
and guess what, after 20-30 minutes, everything starts working absolutely fine.
So for 20-30 mins, it gives me "error establishing a database connection"..

Any reply is appreciated. I already have checked my.cnf, mysql logs, apache logs, no luck :(

    Thanks,
    Chandan

If your database configurations has remained the same during the whole time and it just suddenly starts saying that, then its a performance issue with your database server. I would contact your hosting provider about it. (I'm assuming it might be a dedicated box if you were able to check the my.cnf)

This looks like a DB server issue. You have to inform your provider about it.

Please make sure that any particular script is trying to connect to the DB more than the allowed maximum connections

Also I would suggest you to check if there is suhosin installed in your server

With those servers there are issues as it limits the posts from a form and max connections possible etc

I'd blame your hosting provider. Wordpress never had any problems with the DB connectivity on dozen of installs and templates nor have there been many complains about this problem on the main worpdress forums...
