So...I have migrated my Blogger blog to WordPress. I have been working on my widgets the last few hours. Dude, this is crazy. I'm like copying and pasting weird looking code to create more boxes in my sidebar. Then I'm just pasting the HTML codes for the widgets into the PHP file "Sidebar". Tell me there's an easier way... Oh, the sidebar boxes in WP where you can just drag the little rectangles for blogroll, catgories, etc.....the sidebar doesn't show up in there. The blog that shows up in there is the box in the left side of my header that shows recent posts. Have a look...first link in sig.
Sounds like the theme isn't properly widget compatible, in which case I don't know of any other way than manually editing the php file. You could get another theme that does work with widgets if you're not too attached to that one.
I'm not a huge fan. I can barely see any content without having to scroll down, and the colors don't make it very easy to read. Plus, while that puzzle piece thing looked cool originally, now it just kind of is bright and takes up space. Just my opinion though
Well...I have layout issues. My taste is opposite from EVERYONE else. LOL Including advertisers, Entrecarders, etc. I like the darker themes...not so tough on the eyes, but I like colors too! Blog visitors don't, it doesn't seem, and since I'm writing for them.... Also, this is my crap blog where I take orders for paid posts, use seizure inducing widgets if I want, etc. So...yeah....what's this Google search going to look like? LOL "widget ready adsense ready 3 column free wordpress themes" LOL Thanks for your input, I appreciate it. Rep+
I like you blog and I understand what you mean about the widget insanity. I haven't even moved 1/2 my widgets from blogger to my new wordpress home. I did try to move my blogcatalog widget and it was there for a day and now it's gone again. I don't know if it has anything to do with needing to upgrade to the new version of wordpress or not but the whole process freaks me out!
Yeah...I feel a bit out of my territory. I am not afraid to deal with code, and sometimes I can even figure it out a little, but it's just the transition from the ease of clicking "Add a Page Element" to doing really weird code pasting type things and refreshing a lot to see if it works. It's a little better now that I changed my theme to a widget-ready one, but I'm still pasting and the like. Whatever...I've hit the WordPress Big Time!!!!
