Widgetbucks Java Code: Google Penalty?

OK. I'm no SEO guru. The most I know to do is spread backlinks a little and make my keywords bold. Recently I tried out Widgetbucks for 3 days, and now I'm not ranking for my top keyword anymore. I know there's somewhat of a Google dance going on, but I was paying attention today to the Widgetbucks penalty for the hidden backlink and when I loaded my site, I noticed there is a Widgetbucks backlink, then the java loads and the ads come up. Isn't that sort of a hidden backlink which is a no-no for Google?

Am I on to something here or just trying to find a good excuse of losing my ranking? (Which I assume I should wait out...)

Just wondering what others think about this. I know I'm probably just speculating, but it's nice to try :)!

noticed something similar, but not sure if it is just natural or not. I'm not sure big G would have penalized for widgetbucks that quickly.

Yes, there's definitely a link in back of those ads. It really turned me off, since it displays for a good 1-2 seconds before the ad kicks in.

If they use java script the spiders should not see the link. I might be wrong but that is the way i remember it.

    it's not in the javascript.
i don't know if it will hurt your site, but you are linking to a "bad" site.

i see that they have removed the link from the ad code, but they still have it the TOS about any backlinks that may be in the code.

if you use widgetbucks, you should update your ad code.

They did remove the code? Sweet. Going to try it now. My site dropped off which made me want to investigate what the hell happened. With previous Google dances I was just fine but this is just ridiculous! Thanks for the information guys/gals!
