I think all the more you should support widgetbucks instead of adsense. It is a David versus Goliath situation.

Yes it's safe to use with adsense.

They weren't indexed by google because they had problems with their site. They are now, so everyone can go back to their normal, non-conspiracy theorist ways.

That's only one of the conspiracy theories, now the others need answering or at least better comunication between WB and us webmasters - ie. The up and down CPM and CPC - and how they're managing them.

If we knew more we could be working towards better ROI and know what we're doing wrong / right.

Who do we target, what effects CPM and conversions, why do CPC vary from day to day ?

I don't understand why this seems such a mystery to people. The payout is based on the conversion rate of the visitors you send. That changes day to day - some days people will buy more than others. You get an estimated RPC initially and then after they analyze conversion rates you get a finalized payout. So RPC varies from day-to-day and site-to-site even for the same categories.

There's nothing really a publisher can do to influence conversions. That's up to the merchant's landing page. The most you can do is choose a category that might interest your website visitors. That can lead to higher CTR, though not necessarily higher conversion rate. I don't think it is particularly mysterious. Check this thread for a comment on how it works with a comparison to going directly to shopping.com yourself -> http://forums.digitalpoint.com/showthread.php?t=542257&page=3

For me it is performing much better than Adsense on a couple of sites, and about the same on a couple others. I anticipate performance will decline as ad blindness sets in and people become less attracted to the flashy widget.

How do you know this ? It's a CPC program not PPP or Affilate site, I haven't read anywhere that states that WB is a Pay Per Performance.

It should be made clear though - I am not saying you're wrong - it should be made clear to publishers, even before we sign up and promote.

Mainly due to the fact : that we may aswell be selling for Amazon or performance realted sites instead - directly and not using another middle man.

Its nothing like that ... they will soon be ranking in the SERPS .. the expert from WB has already commented on this matter and claim that they (WB) were at fault.
