Is the link of .edu or educational site is the possible way to increase web traffic?

That depends on how much traffic that edu site gets. However, the main reason why I'd want a link from an edu site would be to improve link popularity and page strength. I wouldn't expect too much direct traffic.

Thanks for your reply. But if I add educational site from non related site such as web design company, this will achieve high page rank?

Are you adding the EDU site to the non-related site, or adding the non-related site to the EDU site?

Let me see if I am reading the thread correctly. You are asking to see if a non related website (ie: web design company) links to an edu domain would there be an increase of traffic for the edu site?

If thats what you are asking, I would think that there will only be traffic if the link to the edu site has something to do with web design, design related or provide information on a complementary service to web design. Else it wouldnt be worth the trouble, as the traffic going there might not convert.

Also if the link is purely for traffic, it would be best to put a no follow unless you are linking to a page that is somewhat related to your services.

    my 2 cents worth.

I'm not sure why you'd want to advertise a college or university from a web design company. The only purpose I could find in doing so, would be to improve link popularity. With a PR4 and unrelated topic, it's not gonna do much to help as far as SEO is concerned. In terms of direct traffic, I don't see this happening unless you get thousands or millions of visitors a day to that web design site.

I think Google probably considers links from .edu and .gov sites as more powerful in their algorithm since they are coming from trusted sites.
