I must have missed something but I don't see anything that explains "Why you still can't succeed without web directories"! There are other methods of link building - forum posting/forum signatures and blog posting/commenting so the title does sound like sensationalism. Directories are going through a tough time right now, but they will be back!
Except for a select few who got their hands slapped directories are not going through a tough time. Business has never been better for many directories.
Only directories that violated Google’s webmaster guidelines are getting penalized, that’s not all directories. The vast majority of directories have nothing to worry about.
Directories are proven to be effective in search engines and I don't think they will be out of business soon. Just evolving.
Actually google is trying to make sure that the rich do not become richer and poor remain poor . Simple policy.
I don't think that they will be out, they will always be one of the most effective ways on link Building.
