I was thinking that it is probably a slight advantage to register names in January or early in the year as opposed to say December. The reason is that if you sell the name in the future then if it has it expires in 2008 rather than 2007 etc then it looks better on paper.. Sort of similar to car sales Well I guess this only matter for low price sales because I doubt this would matter when your selling valuable names. what do you think?
- I think you should renew before prices go up in October. - If you think of good name in December it makes little sense to wait until January to register. Someone else might grab it before you do.
tobycoke..prices are going up in october? for what extension(s)?? I agree..if you find a good name you need to register it asap before it's gone..I don't like sitting around and waiting when theres an available name I want..no matter when you register it it's still gonna have a year left..
Versign is increasing its fee on October 15, 2007 by 42 cents on .com and .net. Expect registrars to pass on this price increase. http://www.verisign.com/press_releases/pr/page_041054.html .biz will also go up 42 cents to $6.42 on Oct 19th http://domainsmagazine.com/Domains_1/Domain_7592.shtml On Oct 18 the .info price to registrars increases to $6.15 but you may still expect to see sales. http://www.icann.org/correspondence/frolich-to-twomey-18apr07.pdf
I'm pretty sure that a year is a year. The main factor is what whois records see it as. I see your point though, like selling something at $5.95 instead of $6.00
Yes I agree domains should be purchased between now and October before the price increases... but I mean in general, so for example if you were regularly buying lots of domains then the better time to buy would be at the start of the year. Of course if you have a few names you want then there would be no point waiting too....
