Why you should accept a new submission

Let me know your criteria for a website that you'll list into your directory.

I'm asking this because I run a free directory but It seem I accept too many of them. The reject ratio is very low, and I want to be more selective.

I started out that way myself, hard to believe now that I actually had felt bad about deleting some of those MFA's site, I have no guilt whatsoever now:D

The fact is, most of those MFA's and other "questionable" sites is that, they spend much of their days submitting, they submit so much in a day that they don't even know where they've submitted. An experience submitted whether they are a submission company's or just an individual, they know the ratios when it comes to rejections and they tend to move on or will come back and resubmit knowing that at any given time you will just click on the approve button and be too lazy to review it, this happen alot and I know because I have done this before and only when I went to review most of the links on my site thats when I ask myself,"how the f%$# did this get in here.

Just stick to your Guidlines and that is all the reasoning you need.

My criteria for acceptance of free listings at ListMyNiche.com is pretty simple.

    1. Site should have a good appearance.
    2. Must have a purpose other than just MFA.
    3. Must not be a cookie cutter style.
    4. Must either be in english or have an english version available.
    5. No adult or gambling.
    6. Actual web site name should be used with a couple keywords in the title is ok.
    7. Must be submitted to the right category.
    8. Not too many 3rd party ads.

My acceptance rate is generally 1/3rd of the 100 or so submissions I receive daily.

Is there any other way to automate such process? I'm a tech freak and too lazy visiting them one by one.

To maintain the integrity of your directory you are going to have to manually evaluate each submission.

But I give so much importance to design as only when design if a website is good some people will again visit you

If a website's design is bad they may not get repeat visitors

If someone is too lazy to look at sites submitted , they should just make it paid directory instead of free.

I would think that it should be more important to review the sites if you have a paid directory. When someone pays they are expecting to get something for thier money. If you accept everyone just because they pay, you are cheating the others.

Perhaps you should consider if it is a site that you would ever visit yourself.

If you were looking for the information or product/service they offer, would their site be one you would look to for your research or purchase.

I also have gotten into using my gut. I received a submission for a site that talked about making soap. (Soap making can be very dangerous if you don't know what you are doing.) The site had almost exclusively used free pictures from Stock Exchange (I know this because that's where my soap picture came from) and none of the "recipes" had pictures that matched the project. Overall, it just felt off. With my gut telling me the site was scraped and the dangerous aspects of the topic covered - it got the axe.

Just because you have a free directory, or even paid for that matter, does not mandate that every submission must be accepted.

While having a niche site makes some of the decision making easier (no, a certain India SEO company will not be put into the business category no matter how many times you submit using different IPs); the tougher you are, the better your site will be.

Also, I have gotten into the habit of evaluating the directories I submit to by whether or not they accept what are essentually "snake oil salesman" sites. So, unless you are catering to that group - I would bounce them as well.
