Why does anyone use yahoo? I seriously know no one that uses it, I always thought that Google was much much more popular but on alexa
Yahoo is first and Google is forth. Why?!?! I guess they have more content but no one uses it...

Many people prefer Yahoo Finance over Google Finance. There are also many people who have email accounts at Yahoo.

Yahoo was in the game way before google so they developed a loyal fan base early on.

Also yahoo has many more services than Google. These services work great and target all types of people. Google isn't the boss at everything you know. Lets just take an example with Answers. Yahoo Answers is a success, Google Answers dropped.

It's stuff like that keeps Yahoo topping the Alexa charts

    Yahoo is a portal site.

Search is not its main feature. Its actually News.

Yahoo has been around forever, or at least longer than Google.

    Personally, I miss askjeeves.com circa 1999.

yahoo is popular as a portal site. I think the big contribution of its visitor is coming from yahoo answer.

For me, I prefer Yahoo!Mail over Gmail. In term of search, I would prefer Google.

According to report, most people use Google as their search engines, around 65% in US alone. Yahoo only get 25%, live/msn only 5%, and ask only 5%. Yahoo gets more traffic because they have plenty of features, meanwhile Google is focusing its attention on search engine

You're quite right. Hitwise released the following numbers which gives some insight into the traffic niches that Yahoo is doing well in right now. The web is more than just search.

Personally, every time I've used Yahoo I don't get accurate/relevant results like I do with Google. MSN, out of the three, has to the least relevant...they have some work to do. I do like Yahoo's extra features besides the search.
