Why yahoo showing different results

    Hello DP Members,

    I m really confused with yahoo results actually i m leaving in India and my clients stay at canada and i had a lot of work for my clients sites and showing at #1 position with it's respective keywords but the same results is not showing to my clients even i have check with proxy site the results are same please suggest me out anybody!!!!

    what is the keyword and what is the site name let me know so i can check from USA :) may be you are trying Yahoo.co.in and he is trying Yahoo.ca :-s or Yahoo.com

    It happends because of diff. data centers. It showing results to both of you from diff. data centers.

    it might be because of the different data centers...you and your client were searching on different DC...

    I have ever asked the same question to another forum, and here some answers from my friends:

    Comparing SERPs accross different search engines is like comparing apples and oranges. Same general "product" that serves the same purpose but different make-up and achieves slightly different things while filling the same need.

    Apples (Google) & Oranges (Yahoo!) are Fruit (Search Engines).
    Apples have a skin, oranges a rhine.
    Apples are pretty solid oranges are full of juice.
    They have different nutrients, etc.
    Apples are red or green oranges are... orange.
    Etc.

    The different search engines have different criteria for sorting and ranking information. They have different access to information as well. Some SEs are better at discovering and parsing new input. Others have a better refinement method for the info.

    What they spit out for SERPs would naturtaly be different because they are different entities entirely.

    They are very different algorithms accessing different data sources for their results.

    Google tends to work the hardest in trawling information, and has a much higher number of users, and therefore potential visitors than Yahoo or MSN.

    The difference in SERP is due to its distinct algorithms. Every search engine doesn't stick to a specific algorithm. It regularly changes its algorithm, but we cannot detect it. So leaving all this aside, one should concentrate on getting good quality backlinks from relevant sites.
