Why yahoo mail is getting more spam then gmail?

i am getting more spam in yahoo mail then gmail
i am getting more than 700 spam a week in that 100 are in inbox but in gmail i am getting only 200 spam a week.
so why yahoo mail is getting more spam then gmail?

 

Its just because you have submitted your Yahoo email id at more places than your gmail id.

i totally agree with you, this is the main problem.. haha..
however, i think that hotmail have the better spam filter..

The funny thing about spam is that most people check their spam folder, so the concept of automatically filtering spam doesn't work too well. Just have to be as careful as possible about where you submit your email.

 

gmail is taking strict steps against the spammers than yahoo.That may be the reason.Gmail asks for mobile no. also for verification & reduce spammers.

 

I don't think it's like that,
I don't get spams in yahoo more than gmail.
Both are having different fillters so may be possible gmail restrict some as spams.

 

It's not like that,
the criteia of the different mail providers are different so it may possible some mails are counted as spam in some mails and regular in other mails.

 

Yahoo keeps rebuilding but they killed the map and the weather the main features i liked, The spam is geting bad.

 

i get no spam in my yahoo, but 20-30/day from gmail...lol

 

hey for that some initial step for security shold be taken for that site side....
gmail has started to minimize spammers by not allowing more then 2 id's at the moment but yahoo has no rule for that....

 

I think G-Mail has a much better spam filter than Yahoo! based solely on personal experience.

 

When it comes to spam, you cannot say whether Google or Yahoo is better. After all, spam only happens when someone knows your email address.

 

the reason people still check their spam folders is that sometimes a 'genuine' email is sent to the spam folder automatically.
Hence...it is instinctive to jst have a glance at the spam folder every once in a while you log in.

 

Gmail has better spam controls imo, all the mail in my inbox is actual mail and all the spam is in the spam box, good job Google!

 

yah i have to agree... gmail spam filtering is great... but still flags responses on craigslist from emails that I send out looking to buy stuff.

 

Yahoo groups are spammers paradise. Don't join.

It's not about whether you join sites with Yahoo or GMail but Yahoo has ridiculous filters. Some legitimate emails can be hooked up in junk box folders while Nigerian/adult scams and frauds gone into your inbox quite easily.

 

Well for one google has a much larger base of users, that help it to fight spam. It also owns Postini now, which also helps to refine spam rules. Bottom line is that Gmail has better filters any day of the week.
